Frequently Asked Questions
Are passphrases more secure than passwords?
A 5-word passphrase (e.g. correct-horse-battery-staple) has more entropy than most 8-12 character passwords and is far more memorable.
How many bits of entropy is enough?
60+ bits is considered strong. 80+ bits is very strong. Use more words if you need higher security.
Can I use a custom separator?
Yes. Choose hyphen, space, period, underscore, or no separator. The passphrase is valid regardless.
